Government Body Saves hundreds of hours through automated data collection

Solution Approach

  1. Design a front-end application for users to input data and also import through excel files driven by Infonyx’s Agile approach and Service Delivery Framework

  2. Development of a robust back-end database model that stores data through the front-end application for auditing and reporting purposes

  3. Implementing multiple application screens using complex business rules

  4. Support to the delivered application through user onboarding and upgrades to solution components, limited enhancements to application

Results & Benefits

  • The developed application has benefited the Water and Catchments team by making it easy to import and collect data from 19 Water Corporations across Victoria in different frequencies.

  • The application reduced the manual effort of collecting multiple excel files by automating data collection via the application user interface reducing man hours significantly.

  • Reporting via Tableau

    • The Water and Catchments branch within DELWP manages Victoria’s groundwater, catchments and waterways, infrastructure, water saving and re-use projects, flood management, governance and water legislation, in partnership with a network of government agencies and water authorities

    • Water and Catchments department within DELWP required assistance in reporting of financial data for its 19 Water Corporations. This included monthly, quarterly and financial forecast reporting for every 5 years

    • The data (Corporate Plan and Annual Report) was stored in Excel templates which resulted in a manual and labour-intensive transfer process which was both time consuming and prone to error

    • There was lack of awareness amongst users around various data files submitted by the Water Corporations
